ORISE Research Fellowship

EPA's National Center for Environmental Economics (NCEE) is accepting applications for temporary Research Assistant positions through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Research Participation/Internship Program for the U.S. EPA. NCEE is EPA's center of expertise for cutting-edge research and analysis in environmental economics (www.epa.gov/economics) and supporting science. Deadline for initial application is Friday, June 8, 2012. Applicants should be in or have recently completed (within five years) an undergraduate degree program in economics or a related field. This may include natural or physical science fields that provide information used in economic analysis. Applicants must have high academic standing and an interest in applied environmental economics research. Duties are expected to include providing support for NCEE staff economists and scientists in their research and related activities, including conducting thorough literature searches and providing scientific input to be used by staff in peer reviewed publications, research reports, working papers, and presentations. Tasks also include the collection, organization and verification of data using standard analytical techniques. The participant will also assist in the review of analyses of the benefits and costs of environmental regulations. The participant will assist in analyses and research efforts on benefit-cost research and techniques, economic impact models and measures, and market incentive mechanisms. The individual also will assist in the production of new studies, coordinated with other NCEE staff and EPA program offices. The appointment is for up to one year (with possible renewal) and is subject to availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Coverage under a medical insurance plan is both required and the responsibility of the applicant. The participant does not become an EPA employee. Position can be full-time or part-time as schedule allows. U.S. citizenship required.
